About Ginette....

I graduated from Askham Bryan College in 1999 and moved on to my first job in horticulture on the grounds maintenance team at Adare Manor Hotel and Golf Club, where i worked on all elements of the estate including the walled garden, rose gardens, formal box garden and turf maintenance on the golf course.

I gained lots of experience here and that gave me the confidence to move on to my next job on the grounds team at The University of Edinburgh. The university is spread over many diferent sites which enabled me to experience maintenance of amenity landscapes where practicalities of access and health and safety are equally as important as aesthetics.

After this job i went on to study at The University of Leeds , working in local garden centres and nurseries at weekends and in the holidays, and graduated in 2004 with a BSc Ecology (honours). During my time at uni I met Alasdair and thats where it all went wrong!....

About Alasdair....

I met Ginette when she was at University and I had just bought my own restaurant in her hometown of Southwell, Nottinghamshire. I had been a chef for many years and had been working for the previous owners for a while when they decided to retire and they offered to sell me the business. I jumped at the chance and Ginette soon became my business partner and we ran the restaurant together for the next 7 years.

In 2009 we sold the restaurant and Ginette decided to return to her original career path of Gardening and so she set up her own garden maintenence business. I continued to work as a chef at a local childrens home whilst helping Ginette out when she had too much work on.

I soon got the gardening bug and decided to study Horticulture myself on a RHS  course and now I work along side Ginette once again.

Ginette lived in York while at college in the 90's and loved everything about the City and so in 2011 we decided to move to York and restart the business as a partnership and the rest, as the say, is history.

The Future...

We look forward to settling in to York over the next couple of years and establishing Green Goddess Gardening with a whole range of new customers in York and the surrounding areas. In the long term we would like to develop the business to enable us to expand and employ some budding gardeners to grow with us and take on more projects.

We would very much like to get involved with community growing projects to help encourage children and young adults in to growing plants for fun because we know the enormous sense of wellbeing this can bring.

As well as gardening we also enjoy making things  and we would like to offer those handmade products for sale here on the website and maybe develop the range with time.
